I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately, but I have been on the road with hardly any access to the internet. The trip took my Mom, Aunt and me from Palm Springs to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and The Grand Canyon before driving back to Oklahoma via Santa Fe and the Panhandle. We saw so many beautiful and interesting places and had a wonderful time together!
Zion was a beautiful canyon surrounded by amazing mountains. I'm glad we started here, cause the other parks were, if possible, even more breathtaking than this one. We spent a night inside the park and hiked along the river and up the slopes for almost a full day. The park is well worth a visit and we could easily have spent more time here, but Bryce was calling our names.
The different colors make the mountains interesting!
Flooding caused the river to look beige... Pretty either way!
And what a place Bryce Canyon is!!! The rock formations are out of this world and I've never seen anything like it. We walked among the rocks for almost a full day and came back the next morning to see it as the sun went up. The light in the early morning is indescribable and a must-see if you ask me! I really hope to make it back to Bryce some day soon!
Cool shaded chicks!
Wanna know how large the formations are? Look at my ant-sized aunt to the right of the tree
Then it was time to drive to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I knew it was going to be a large place, but its' size surprised me! It's absolutely enormous! We hiked down to Skeleton Point one morning and it was well worth it, despite the struggle getting back up the side of the canyon to the trailhead. My Mom and Aunt did GREAT!!!
I'm pretending to be artistic ;)
A little break on the way up the hill
On our way back to Stillwater we decided to drive through Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Panhandle of Oklahoma. My Mom had read about the Georgia O'Keeffe museum in Santa Fe and she always manages to throw in some "culture" during our vacations. I believe this was an all-time low with only one museum... But Thanks Mom, for educating me!!!
I'm now back in Stillwater, doing laundry, unpacking, going through email and snail mail and making homemade muesli. Not to mention writing the Newsletter for March (sign up on my homepage) and going through all the pictures I took last week. The camera was probably close to overheating at times...
