It's Thursday afternoon now, and I'm relaxing in my room trying to gather up enough energy to go for a light workout. The past few days have been GREAT! It's so much fun to be on the road again - so many friends to catch up with, great weather, perfect putting green and a good range. Not to mention our accommodations - the JW Marriott at Desert Ridge. The LPGA Founders Cup is about charitable contributions and doing things for good causes and Marriott chose to donate rooms and food for all players and caddies this week. Amazing!
When I checked in yesterday I was told that my room had a beautiful view of the hotel entrance. I wasn't sure if the lady behind the counter was joking or serious, but I was pretty sure there was no such thing as a beautiful view of an entrance. Oh, how wrong I was. The mountains in the distance are great to look at, especially when the sun sets right behind them!
I played in the Pro-Am this morning and we are trying a new thing this week - each pro is only playing 9 holes and another pro takes over at the turn. This way the amateurs get to know a couple of players, instead of just one, and the pros get to see the course an additional time and also have plenty of time for some practice to get ready for the tournament. It's a win/win if you ask me and I really hope other events will catch on to this!
My group was great - not just entertaining people, but they were actually pretty good golfers too! We were eight under par when I turned them over to Katie Futcher. I headed straight to the range for some wedge practice and finished the session off by hitting a few iron shots and drivers. After lunch I spent an hour or so on the putting green and I was done by 3. I love this 9 hole pro-am idea!!!
Other news this week is that I decided on changing my 3-wood and driver. After fiddling with a few different settings, lofts, lies, shafts, shaft lengths, etc we finally found a driver that goes just as straight as my old one, but it gives me a few extra yards. And the new 3-wood is automatic - I love it! For the curious ones out there, the new clubs are both the white TaylorMades. I thought I was waaay to conservative and stubborn to hit white clubs, but I guess I just proved myself wrong again ;)
I'm teeing off at 1.00 pm tomorrow and I'm paired with a good friend of mine - Marcy Hart! It should be lots of fun and I'm definitely ready to get this season started!
