My game wasn't were it needed to be last week and I missed the cut at the Founders Cup in Scottsdale. The driver was great, I rolled the putts beautifully, but my iron play was bad. Very bad... My coach E.J. Pfister is here in LA this week to caddy for Stacy Prammanasudh and he has been able to help me figure things out regarding my swing. We came to the conclusion that it "looks" really good, and that it's a timing issue so I've been hitting a lot of balls focusing on rhythm and weight shift. I hope the work we have put in will pay dividends during the Kia Classic this week!
The course we are playing is only a few minutes away from an IKEA store and I went there Monday for lunch. There is nothing like going to IKEA for some Swedish food - I love it! I never walk straight to the restaurant though. The eating is preceded by a casual stroll through the entire store, touching and trying the furniture, and picking through the Swedish books stacked high in every Billy bookcase. Going to IKEA is not just a visit to a store - it's an experience! E.J. had never before been to one of the stores so I forced him to join me and he liked it a lot! He even picked up some lingonberry jam and swedish cookies in the food store! I have been looking forward to this trip for quite a while and had a list of things to buy - most importantly two buckets of lingonberry jam and a few bottles of dark syrup needed to make my favourite breakfast bread.
I just got back to the hotel after spending some time at a local coffee shop with Paige MacKenzie and Allison Fouch. We try to meet up at least once every week for some coffee and crossword puzzles. I prefer doing it on Mondays, when the puzzles are easier, but Paige and Allison are really good and seem to breeze through the clues most of the time. My excuse is that English isn't my first language and that I would beat them if we ever attempted a Swedish puzzle. Ha!
The weather here in east LA has been pretty bad so far, with lots of rain and cold temperatures. I have to admit that I wasn't counting on that when I packed and will probably need to visit the laundromat this week. One turtleneck will not do it... I'm just hoping that we will be able to start and finish on time each day without any major delays. I tee off from the 1st tee at 1.20 tomorrow afternoon and have an early tee time on Friday.
