The tournament in Atlantic City definitely tried my patience. I hit it beautifully during the pro-am on Thursday, but it didn't carry over into the round on Friday, when I struggled and had too many double bogeys... The solid play was back on Saturday when I hit every single fairway and 17 out of the 18 greens, but only managed to shoot two under par. It was enough to make the cut though and I was ready to attack the course on Sunday. My irons weren't on the same page though... The front nine was a showcase on how to make up & downs and I was so excited to see the work I've put in around the greens finally pay off! I wasn't able to keep it going on the back nine though, and finished in a tie for 64th...
This week's tournament is the State Farm Classic in Springfield, Illinois. It is the 36th year of this event and they do a great job organizing the tournament and lots of money is donated to local charities every year. We are, however, looking for a new title sponsor for next year - are you interested?
I played in a women's pro-am at the tournament course yesterday and we had a blast! Women might not hit it as far as the men, but they hit it way straighter and have pretty good short games. Betsy, Betty, Deb and Julie were great fun and their putters saved us on a few occasions out there!
It is extremely hot here this week and when I left the course today they said on the radio that the heat index had exceeded 102 degrees Fahrenheit. That's way too hot for a Swede... It's a good thing water is readily available on the course, because I've been drinking constantly the last two days. I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon in air conditioning saving my energy for the tournament days!!!
