That was probably the longest tournament week I have ever been a part of, but it's finally over. At least for me... I hit one shot on Thursday before thunder and lightning stopped play. Then played 35.75 holes on Friday, 2.8 holes on Saturday and 33.2 holes on Sunday. That is NOT a normal work week for me and I am beat. I am planning on sleeping all day tomorrow before heading back to Sweden on Wednesday, but first on the schedule is a day of exploring Colorado Springs with Sofie Andersson! Should be lots of fun!
My game was a bit up and down this week. I had stretches when I hit it good, but didn't get much out of it. And at other times I didn't hit it very well, but I made some great par saves with my putter. A couple of the rounds started off really poorly, but I held on and fought on the back side to post decent scores despite the bad starts. It is always nice to improve as the round goes on, since it seems to leave a better taste in the mouth than starting off great and finishing poorly...
A US Open is oftentimes about eliminating the big numbers, which I did a great job of apart from the first hole of the last round. I hit the second shot onto the green, but a few minutes later it decided to roll back into the fairway, which left me with an awkward chip shot. I hit a decent shot but it took me 4 putts to realize that the greens were faster for the afternoon round than they had been for the morning round. Ouch... A near miss for an eagle on number two got me right back on track though!
It's time to start packing so I can go exploring without having to worry about getting ready for my 6 pm flight back to Oklahoma!
And pictures of Broadmoor are on their way!!!
