I'm now in Mobile, Alabama, for the Avnet LPGA Classic. It feels soooo good to be back at a tournament site again!!! I have had some great practice sessions in Oklahoma during the past two weeks and spent quite a bit of time on the golf course to prepare for "real golf" again. Both Karsten Creek and Oak Tree National are in beautiful shape and I've played a few rounds at each course. Karsten is gearing up for the NCAA Championship in the end of May and the rough is getting thicker by the second. Scary ;) And Oak Tree is Oak Tree - a tough course that forces you to hit all types of shots both off the tee and around the greens. It's just a special place that I love visiting!
A friend of mine, Karin Kinnerud, asked if I wanted to go hiking with her a day last week and I said yes with no hesitation. We went to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, which is not even close to Wichita. Very strange... It was an amazing place though, with bison and longhorns walking around everywhere, plenty of trails to hike and beautiful views in every direction. It only took me 8.5 years to find Oklahoma's hidden treasure, but better late than never I guess! And I wasn't expecting much, so I didn't bring my big camera and forgot to charge the small one. So 10 minutes into the hike it went dead and all I have are some pictures of prairie with brown, unidentifiable spots in the distance - bison! We got closer to them later on in the day, but I have no pictures of that. Sad... I have to say though, that the bison were HUGE. Much larger than normal cows or bulls and they look incredibly powerful. Karin and I are planning a return trip before she leaves Stillwater for good when the semester is over in May. I can't wait (for the hike, not her departure...)
I'm starting to babble now and my stomach is growling. I'd better put the computer away and go get some dinner before I get too grumpy...
